Scot, I successfully installed Windows 7 x64 RTM on my Q6600 computer, although I did have to remove the overclocking to complete the install. This computer has an Intel chipset. That computer's been running great for a couple of weeks now.

I also successfully installed an earlier version of Windows 7 x64 as a dual-boot on another computer, an i7 720 with an Intel chipset. That also ran without a hitch.

Based on my results, my bud installed Windows 7 x64 RTM on his Q6600 computer. He's been having nothing but trouble - lockups on shut down, freezes, and worst of all, file copies from USB drives are failing.

It turns out he has a nForce chipset, and it appears Windows 7 x64 has a big problem with that particular chipset. Although Microsoft is now "looking into it", there is no resolution as of yet.

The problem appears to be with the x64 version - the x86 version (32-bit) appears to work just fine with this chipset. My bud hasn't yet reinstalled to verify this, but I'm sure he will this weekend.
